Project
Streaming University Community Streams
The Chapter has partnered with The Streaming University Project in sponsoring community information streams produced and managed by residents in NYC public housing communities. The community streams enable residents to keep their communities informed about local events, activities, tenant meetings and conditions in their development and community.
- The Streaming University Livestream Project is collaborating with resident association groups in Northern Manhattan, East Harlem, Central Brooklyn and Coney Island, as well as with the WHCR Emergency Broadcast Team (WEBT) and The Smart Community Initiative (TSCI).
- The Chapter plans to co-develop and sponsor additional community streaming services, extending its presence, brand and outreach further into local public housing communities in NYC .
- The Chapter’s work includes hands-on training focused on the installation, operation and programming of community technology streaming facilities. The training is conducted on-site at various housing developments, as well as virtually, with trainees that include resident leaders and engaged tenants interested in internet and communications technologies.
